New Carpa Theater Forums
New Carpa Theater is experimenting with something that may be… well, New.
One of the challenges theatergoers face is that of finding other people with whom we can discuss what we have just seen.
In a way, those of us in theater rely on that quandary — we hope it will drive audience members to encourage their friends, family and co-workers to attend subsequent shows. It’s a win-win — the audience member has someone to discuss the show with, and we have an even larger audience.
Even then, many theatergoers still feel dissatisfied or disconnected after a show — because of the inherit “end” of the show. When you walk out, the show is over. Hopefully, you learned or were even surprised to find yourself thinking about something that may resonate with you for hours, days, weeks or even years to come. For many, however, the chance to really have a deep, meaningful and ongoing dialogue ends as they walk out the theater door.
That is all changing. New Carpa has formed an online forum — a community for theater patrons, actors and staff — where we can communicate with one another before the show even opens it’s house, and long after the set is struck. For those familiar with the term, it’s like a talkback-session that never ends!
First online in July of 2009, the New Carpa Theater forum is an experiment in social interaction, and an exciting chance for cast, crew and public to exchange ideas. Now we can continue the exchange of dialog even after the stage is dark and the audience has left the building. We have another way to endeavor to make real social change.
Join us here in our online forum. Share your thoughts. Communicate with the cast and crew of your favorite New Carpa shows. Share and Communicate with others.
